About Baby Wise Physiotherapy
Partnering with parents to help their child
At Baby Wise Physiotherapy our aim is to work in partnership with families to help best resolve their baby or child's musculoskeletal or developmental issues and achieve their movement goals.
We will aim to :
Take the time to understand your challenges and joys of parenting and your individual circumstances.
Strive to ensure that parents clearly understand the recommended positioning, stretches, exercises and activities that will get the best results for their child.
Set goals that are realistic and achievable for your child, so that physiotherapy can be confidently continued by parents at home, to maximise their child’s results.
What skills does a paediatric physiotherapist have?
Physiotherapy for babies and young children requires detailed knowledge of anatomy, growth, and the development of movement skills at different ages and stages.
Paediatric physiotherapists understand how important is it for babies and children to learn to move so that they can learn to talk, socialise, explore and interact with family, friends and the wider community.
Paediatric physiotherapists have skills in assessing, identifying and treating children with movement difficulties.
We love to work with parents and carers to make learning to move a fun and positive experience for a child.
Our role also includes working with others involved in your child's life such as day care educators or preschool teachers, grandparents and other healthcare professionals.

What to expect at the physiotherapy appointment?
When you bring your child to a paediatric physiotherapist, you can expect:
A detailed history is taken. You will be asked about your child's birth, medical, developmental and social background so that we can get to know you and your child.
A physical assessment will be done using observation and specific hands-on assessment techniques. Some children take some time to feel comfortable and we don’t want to rush your child if this takes a little time. We will better understand your child’s abilities and needs if we take time to get to know you and your child.
A physiotherapy home program for your baby/child. You will go home with practical ideas and activities to help your baby or child.
Baby Wise Physiotherapy will identify what your child is doing well, what they are having difficulty with, and provide current evidence based treatment to help your child achieve their best.
In partnership with you and your child, we will work out achievable goals and a home physiotherapy treatment program.
